Restoration and Edible Infusion!
I was asked to come for a consult in the Bells Corners area of Ottawa in late May. This client purchased a home that had a beautifully landscaped garden section of the backyard but life got in the way over in the years that followed the purchase and the garden became overgrown.
During the consult, it became clear that the client wanted the keep what they already had but to trim it back, brighten it up and bring in some edibles. So I built a plan for where we could plant edibles in the form of two rock gardens using rocks that were already on the property. One would become the herb garden, while the other would have some greens, tomatoes, peppers and more.
With the help of the client, we were able to reclaim the previous garden and bring it back to it beauty while adding a little edible infusion. The two spaces worked seamlessly together and while the edibles were growing there was always a part of the old garden that was in bloom.
It gave me great pride while doing this project that we only had to bring in a few edible plants and some new soil to complete this makeover. All of the other materials were sourced from the client’s backyard which saved the client money while ensuring the look of the new gardens matched the rest of the backyard.
This one was edible infusion at its best!
